What does it mean when a junk car will not roll?

A car that will not start may still roll and steer normally. A car that will not roll can be a different job. The parking brake may be stuck, one or more wheels may be seized, the transmission may not shift into neutral or damaged suspension parts may prevent a wheel from turning.

Flat tires can also make loading more difficult, especially when a vehicle has been sitting for a long time. None of these problems automatically means the vehicle cannot be removed. Jay needs to know about them before pickup so the driver arrives with an appropriate plan.

A tow truck winch is used to pull the vehicle toward the loading deck or into a suitable towing position. The truck must be placed where the pull can be controlled safely. Available space, the direction the vehicle is facing and the surface beneath it all matter.
