What Counts as a Broken Car?
A car does not have to be wrecked to be ready for scrap. It might have an engine that will not start, a transmission that no longer works, serious mould inside, or several repairs that add up to more than you want to spend. I also hear from owners whose vehicles have failed a police inspection and received a Box 1 or Box 2 notice. Tell me what the notice says and what repairs the vehicle needs.
You do not have to know the mechanical diagnosis before calling. If a mechanic gave you an estimate, tell me what they found. If the car stopped running and you have not had it inspected, tell me what happened. I can discuss buying the car in its current condition.
What If There Is Mould Inside?

How Broken Car Removal Works
Call or text me with the vehicle details and where it is parked. I’ll ask about its condition and access, then give you a firm price by phone. If you accept, we’ll agree on a pickup time and I’ll explain the towing arrangements. You are paid on the spot, before the vehicle is loaded.
The price is based on the vehicle you describe. If important details turn out to be different, I’ll explain what changed and give you a new price before loading. You can decide whether to go ahead. I want you to know the deal while the car is still yours.
You do not need to tow a broken car home from a mechanic just to sell it to me. Tell me the repair shop or dealership address, whether you have arranged for the car to be released, and who has the keys. We can plan pickup from there.
What Should I Tell Jay When I Call?
Start with the year, make and model. Tell me whether the car starts, whether it rolls, what is damaged and whether any major parts are missing. I also need to know where it sits: an open driveway, a street, a repair shop or somewhere with limited access.
Mention flat tires, seized brakes, missing keys or missing registration before we book. If you are unsure whether the wheels turn, say that. Photos of the vehicle and the space around it can help me plan the pickup. You do not need to solve a loading problem yourself before calling.
What About Ownership Papers and Licence Plates?
Have photo ID, the vehicle registration and the keys ready if you have them. Check the car for belongings you want to keep and arrange to keep your licence plates. If you cannot find the registration or keys, let me know before pickup so I can explain what information is needed for your situation.

Can You Take a Car That Will Not Start or Roll?
Yes. Non-running vehicles are a regular part of broken car removal. A dead engine does not stop me from arranging a pickup. Flat tires or seized brakes can affect how the car is loaded, so describe them when you call. Some jobs need winching, and a car in a tight spot needs more planning than one with a clear approach.
